1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ” Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
This scripture reminds us how to show true love from the heart. Love that is pure not tainted from our own dysfunction. We need to be reminded to show love, even when we are hurt by someone and we are angry at them. Time and time again I have been tested in this area. I have failed in the past, but I am getting better at loving now. The way I overcome my weakness in this area is to remember that when someone hurts me or treats me poorly it is because they are hurt themselves. Hurt people hurt others. We need to look at others with eyes of compassion and with empathy and then we can start to bear fruit in this area, and grow in love.
I am sorry when I have failed to grow in love for others. When I have been selfish and allowed my own feelings to harden my heart towards others who have hurt me. Please help me to grow in love for others and to forgive those who have hurt me. Amen.
