1 Peter 2:4 “Come to him, to that living stone, rejected by men but in God’s sight chosen and precious;”
Do you believe you are chosen and precious? Do you know how valuable you are? I have to admit I struggle with this from time to time but I am a work in progress. It is hard to believe these words when you have been treated poorly and rejected in society as well as in the presence of your own family. Why do others treat us poorly? And why do we allow and believe their lies? These questions circle my mind when I am in the middle of a situation that arises these feelings of insecurity to surface. My conclusion is that Hurting people Hurt Other’s, which we know is truth. When you are wounded and feel insecure yourself, things are said or actions are shown that are not truly loving in anyway. We allow these negative words to affect us when we don’t truly love ourselves or believe we have worth. How do we move forward and truly love and respect ourselves? Start by praying and focusing on scriptures that speak truth over who you are in Christ and how valuable you truly are. Take it day by day, baby steps of positive talk and over time you can look back and see the progress you are making. It is not easy and we all fall short but we can change the brokenness if we allow Jesus to heal us.
Thank you for all you are doing in our lives. I pray for all of us who have been hurt by other’s, and have allowed the words that cut us deep to fall into our hearts. I pray for healing and for self confidence to all of us who struggle in this way. Amen.
